Unknown Makers Mark

Unknown Makers Mark

Postby Bayedog » Sat Jan 24, 2015 7:26 am

Hi All,

I am trying to bring back to life a beautiful old double bit axe. There is a makers mark on it but I can't find any history on it. Does anyone recognize the mark? Would love to know where this came from. I bought it at auction on Vancouver Island , BC, Canada about 20 years ago for just a few dollars and am finally going to restore it.

Here it is.....a little pitting but cleaned up nicely after a soak in vinegar. Took a fantastic edge as well. Next is to find a piece of hickory to work on my buddies shave horse so I can hang it.

Fantastic, it looks like a 3 1/2 lb swampers pattern. I will go visit some other forums that I belong to and ask around about the makers mark.

Thanks....glad to know it's a swampers pattern......I know nothing of it. If you find anything on the provenance I would very much love to hear it.
