Arkansas , Checking in.

Postby The Widows Son » Sun Jan 25, 2015 1:28 pm

Hello everybody ,

My name is Joe and I live in the geographical center of Arkansas , a small town named Benton.

I am a Plumber ( M 5622 ) by trade, own my business, and have been in construction most of my adult years , after a short time in the Army. 19 Echo Tank Gunner.

I am a man of faith , politically lean to the Right, and at 51 I look forward to an early retirement where I intend to homestead 5 acres in the Ozark mountains . That is how I ran across the Wranglerstar channel, Bee keeping episodes.

My free time will find me atop a Harley Ultra Classic riding through the Ozarks .

Cody , Thank you for all you do on your channel and know that you have inspired me to install plumbing " Properly" .

Wishing you and yours all the best...

I have never been to Arkansas but I am considering relocating my family to the Ozarks.
You are probably biased but how is it over there for homesteading?
How does the climate compare to Florida and how are the communities up there?

Hello Isaacpopp ,

I moved to Florida in '92 and still remember hurricane Andrew to this day...I was young , making money and had a blast. Work brought me back home in '99 and have been here ever since...

Homesteading the Ozarks, like any wilderness I suppose , is all about being prepared. You are a long ways from anything including cell phone towers. Beautiful scenery but can get very dangerous ,very fast. i.e... Black bear , rattle snacks , mountain lions etc...

Our climate is moderate , and unpredictable . If you don't like the weather, just give it an hour and it will change.

The communities are split between indigenous Rednecks to everybody else .

I paddled the Buffalo River in the early 80's and it was outstanding, beautiful country.
